# How to compare student accommodation costs

Compare weekly rent, contract length, room features and academic year before choosing student accommodation. Use the total contract rent alongside the advertised weekly price.

## Compare the same billing period

Start with the currency and billing period shown beside each rent. A weekly figure and a monthly figure are not directly comparable. For a weekly contract, multiply the weekly rent by the number of contracted weeks to calculate the rent total.

## Compare the contract total

For example, GBP 250 per week for 44 weeks is GBP 11,000 in rent; GBP 230 per week for 51 weeks is GBP 11,730. The lower weekly price can still mean a higher total. These are illustrative figures, not property offers.

## Check room features and additional costs

Compare the room area, bathroom and kitchen arrangements. Then confirm which bills are included, the deposit, any additional fees and the dates covered. An unlisted feature is unknown; it does not mean the feature is absent.

## Check the academic year and campus

Use prices for your intended academic year and verify availability when booking. A university association does not guarantee eligibility or walking distance: check the journey to your specific campus.
